Supplementing the encoder ICs, also available at PREMA:
Printed circuit board (PCB), encoder disk, mask/reticle and LED
Dimensions and resolution of the encoder disk can be adapted to specific requirements.
For higher flexibility at lower production volumes, PR5201 uses a reticle to adapt the photodiodes of the IC to customized resolutions and radii for A/B and Z channel. PR5201 includes a LED current control.
With two signals indicating the sense of rotation and a phase change on A and B, PR5201 provides an alternative method to count the angle of rotation of the encoder. These two signals are particularly suitable for further digital processing.
This sensor IC has been developed for use in linear and rotary encoders. The tiny DFN package allows compact PCBs and does not require an additional reticle. Presently three different resolutions can be obtained:
The photodiodes are covered by an antireflective coating that enables a high sensitivity even for low LED currents. The PR5301 operates best with red or near-infrared light.
