How to find PREMA
Jobs & Careers

Mainz is the home town of PREMA, situated in Germany, on the river Rhine and close to Frankfurt and its international airport. There are many books describing more than 2000 years of the history of Mainz, beginning with the Celts, the Romans (for them Mainz was for several centuries the capital of the upper part of Roman Germany), or the medieval times (when the arch bishops of Mainz were the chancellors of the Reich). The most important invention of the last 2,000 years is the invention of printing by movable types by Johannes Gutenberg, that was used without significant changes until the 20th century. The American Life Magazines has established a list of the most important events of the millennium. The invention of the printing press and the first printing of the Bible by Johannes Gutenberg, a goldsmith and businessman from the town of Mainz, in the year 1455, is the first on this table list.

The scientific principle of repeatability, the impartial verification of experimental results, grew out of the rapid and broad dissemination of scientific insights and discoveries that print allowed. Print technology facilitated a communications revolution that reached deep into human modes of thought and social interaction.
A detail of Gutenberg’s printing technology which shows a lot of
similarity to modern ASIC design: The width of the lead base of each of
Gutenberg’s letters varied according to the letter's size. Similarly,
in standard cell ASIC design one uses standard cells of common height
but varying widths depending on the complexity of the single standard
cell.
